Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region has become a hotspot for a french delegation visiting the country.
The northern area of Pakistan is finally garnering a reputation for itself. From the mighty stretches of the Karakorams to the vast delta of the Indus River, our country remains a land of high adventure and nature.
At the moment, we only have a single ski resort in Malam Jabba. So, there are huge lands and a significant gap in the market for ski resorts. French enterprises are taking a keen interest in investing in the tourism sector of Pakistan and particularly establishing ski resorts in Gilgit-Baltistan, says French Honorary Investment Counsellor Federico Juan Tomas Espana.
The revelation was made in a meeting with the Board of Investment (BOI), Secretary Fareena Mazhar, while heading a delegation of French businessmen.
A Tour Has Been Organized for the French Investors
A tour has been organized to facilitate the business group and the BOI in coordination with the government of Gilgit-Baltistan. The organized tour will take the delegation to five region districts, including Ghizar, Phandar, Astore, Nagar, and Skardu.
Investment Strategy 2020-23
The recently launched Investment Strategy 2020-23 was directed towards drawing foreign investment to different sectors of Pakistan’s economy, said Mazhar. “The strategy provides a comprehensive investment cycle, consisting of policy advocacy, market research and investment facilitation. It offers protection to foreign businessmen through investor tracking, sector scanning and aftercare services to investors and projects.”
A Database Has Been Developed for Investors
The BoI has also developed an incentive database to facilitate foreign investors in Pakistan. Investors can see the complete set of incentives being offered to any specific sector. 120 projects are available on the online database with the federal and provincial governments, worth $60 billion.
“In order to facilitate international investors in Pakistan, the Board of Investment has developed an online database in cooperation with federal and provincial governments,” she said.
“A total of 120 projects worth $60 billion are available on the organisation’s website.” Investors have been asked to visit the BoI website by Ms. Mazhar, “which is user-friendly, interactive and holds comprehensive and updated information for investors.”

A trip to Malam Jabba as a 50th birthday treat was the most unexpectedly ethereal birthday celebration getaway I could have imagined. These were a few magical days spent at Heaven’s feet, which I would redo in a heartbeat and maybe again before the real heavy snowfall season ends this winter.
