Activist Shaniera Akram landed in hot waters after her latest tweet apologizing to men after their gender has failed them, received massive backlash. At a time such as this, where cases of sexual crimes, assault against women are being reported, the sole focus must be on amplifying the concerns of women.

Akram’s latest tweet that has not gone down well with Twitter users says, “My heart goes out to all the good men of Pakistan. I’m sorry so many of your brothers have failed you.”

People and celebrities from Pakistan have been speaking up in solidarity with the Tik Toker who was assaulted on Independence Day and calling out the government for not passing the domestic violence bill. At such a time, Akram’s tweet came out as rather confusing.

Twitter users said this was a tone-deaf tweet overall

Users also corrected the tweet for Akram

Others were sarcastic, they said, “the real victims here are men ofc”.

It is “Women of Pakistan who constantly find themselves on the receiving end of assaults, violence, and beheadings”, and not men.

A user reminded Akram of the facts. She replied with a quote that said, “All men benefit from the actions of bad men. The existence of bad men grants ‘good’ men or men just doing the bare minimum awards just for being decent people.”

Rj Sabah Bani Malik pointed out that Akram said unhelpful things

A user pointed out the ill-nature of the tweet. “Men will never understand what a woman goes through every day. And these are the worst of the times to sympathize with men.”

Amid the backlash, Akram who usually replies to the backlash hasn’t tweeted after her initial tweet. She has 10k likes on her tweet, 512 replies, and over 1.6k quotes.
