It is no secret that the tourism sector in Pakistan is growing. Among many hot spots, Hunza has become primarily a crowd favorite. Naturally, when thousands of tourists have flocked to the valley during season and off-season, it opens up opportunities for hotels and restaurants franchises to invest in the area.
Pearl-continental, one of Pakistan’s 5-star hotels that promises premium hospitality, has promised to open its door very soon in the scenic valley complementing the natural beauty and dramatic splendor of Attabad Lake. Facing the turquoise-blue lake and surrounded by Karakoram Mountains, the hotel will attract tourists.
The model of the hotel making rounds on social media reminds us greatly of the Pearl-continental Bhurban in Murree.
On 3rd August, in Islamabad Marriott Hotel, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Pakistan Services Limited and Road & Story.
At the ceremony, the Chief Operating Officer Hospitality and Education Division Hashoo Group, Haseeb A. Gardezi, said, “With Attabad Lake being one of the wonders of Pakistan, we are pleased to bring our five-star brand, Pearl-Continental here for welcoming guests to an extraordinary lodging experience with the unparalleled service which is our trademark.”
Khalid Khurshid, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, said at the event, “Following the Prime Minister’s Tourism vision, we can retire Pakistan’s debt through the revamping of infrastructure and building facilities for tourists across the country. Investors are encouraged to come and we will facilitate them. The government of GB is also focusing on the development of new cities while ensuring preservation of the environment.”
Director of Road & Story, Yasar Rashid, said, “Our mission is to develop quality hotels and resorts while protecting the natural environment, uplifting local communities and helping to transfer latest construction technologies in the area. Besides developing quality resorts, Road & Story is also in the process of developing Pakistan’s 1st tourism city, amusement park, high altitude international training grounds and ski resorts in under developed northern areas.”
Hunza valley is popular for its scenic views. There are many touristy locations in the area, such as Cafe De Hunza, Hussaini suspension bridge, etc. You can enjoy water activities such as rafting, boating, and jet ski. People also like to visit the Khunjerab pass – China border when visiting the valley.
How to Get to Hunza Valley?
New airlines have been launched to promote tourism in northern Pakistan. It is now relatively easy to get on a flight from Karachi to Skardu and then drive 4 hours to reach Hunza. Another option is to fly from Islamabad airport to Gilgit and travel by road for 2 hours to reach the destination.
We hope the area will not be polluted and lose its pristine beauty with upcoming developments to boost tourism sector.
