Lahore recently hosted the Faiz Festival this week. One of the guests invited to the event included Indian screenwriter, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar.
The Bollywood star was invited to talk at the event, however even though he received major applause, some Pakistanis believe his words were too harsh and that he was allegedly spreading hate.
Javed Akhtar used the platform to talk about the Mumbai terror attacks also known as the 26/11 attack that took the country by storm.
Akhtar commented that the 26/11 attackers were roaming free in Pakistan. Moreover, when asked about the comment today in an exclusive interview, the writer and poet told NDTV: “They all clapped. They agreed with me. There are many people who admire India, and want to have a relationship with us”.
“We tend to think of countries as a monolith. That is not the case. How do we connect with millions of people who want to connect with India,” he added.
But, there are some who were not at all happy with his remarks.
