The month of October is globally celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Just like the rest of the world, we celebrate this as PINKtober. The month-long campaign champions the severity of the breast cancer disease and how it must be considered as a top health priority; the disease affects majority of women in all parts of the world. 1 in 8 (or about 13 percent) in the U.S are at a lifetime risk of getting breast cancer.
During PINKtober, people are urged to wear Pink Ribbons to honour breast cancer survivors, and remember those who lost to this disease- it’s a way to support the progress made together to defeat breast cancer.
