We can’t deny the extensive use of social media in our daily lives. More often, it dictates the way we shop and do many other things on a daily basis, so its importance has definitely increased over the past years. Instagram is a platform that has become a place that best suits influencers and brands to showcase their products and services.
Big brands usually approach influencers or other popular individuals, such as actors from the faternity who have a massive following, to collaborate, to promote their products or services. In this manner, the account holder earns from the collabs and gets a chance to be cross-promoted.
But, social media is not for everyone. It takes its toll on you as creating content is not for everyone, and besides, it takes a lot of thought process and hours of hard work to keep your account running. During an interview with Iffat Omer, multi-talented Amar Khan pointed out that she is not part of the race.
“I don’t want 1M, 2M, 5M followers on Instagram. That is not my goal. People around me tell me that this is important. Your count of followers reflects how big of an actor you are. Brands will come to you”, to which Omer said, “Your generation has a lot of pressure.” She then said, “I don’t give a damn; if brands don’t come. If they are coming because of my fake following, then please don’t bother.”
In Pakistan, few Pakistani actresses are the one’s with a big following, but often people have pointed that these followers are “Fake”.
She then promptly said to the host I wrote my first feature film at this age because I was away from all this ‘nonsense’. Her PR also complains because of her lack of interest, but she can’t help it, “that is how it is”, she concluded.
