In a precautionary measure, the Chief of Karachi Police, Khadim Rind has instituted a cash reward system for individuals providing details about incidents involving aerial firing on the upcoming New Year’s Eve. Aerial firing is commonly used as a sign of celebration during happy occasions like weddings and other events such as New Year’s Eve. Multiple cases of aerial firing is a common occurence across Karachi and has also resulted in many unfortunate deaths of innocent people and children.
Ensuring the confidentiality of informers, Rind stressed that the identity of those providing information would remain protected so as to not put anyone in danger. The sum for the monetary reward has not been announced by the police yet.

To bolster surveillance efforts, the police will deploy officers disguised in plain clothes to discreetly observe and monitor the situation.
