During a grand ceremony, the first lady, Bushra Imran, inaugurated the Shaikh Abul Hasan Ash Shadhili Research Hub to promote Sufism, science, and technology at the Punjab Sports Board (PSB) E-Library building at Nishter Park Sports Complex.

This initiative that is Bushra bibi’s vision is backed up by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and the Department of Higher Education upon the special interest of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife. According to the GCU press release issued on Saturday, a briefing on the center was given to the first lady by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Asghar Zaidi.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani, Secretary Higher Education Department (HED) Nadeem Mehboob, Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman (PHEC) Dr. Fazal Ahmed Khalid, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bushra Mirza, Government College University (GCU) Lahore VC Dr. Asghar Zaidi, Maulana Raghib Naeemi, Special Assistant to the PM Dr. Shahbaz Gill, religious scholars and women parliamentarians attended the ceremony.
In his welcome address, Secretary Sports Punjab Fuad Hashim applauded Prime Minister Imran Khan and the first lady for their exemplary vision of restoring the foregoing reputation of Muslims.
Other than the Sufism Research Centre, an E-library was also set for research purposes to be used in the future. This is because research has been the hallmark of Muslim scholars in the past. In addition, the government is making a conscious effort to introduce young generations to the works of Ulema.
