Female Officer Reportedly Harassed by Bahawalpur University Senior Faculty Members

Details of a female officer being harassed have come to light in the administration of Bahawalpur’s Islamia University.

The incident has been reported by the police officer and an official complaint has been filed against the perpetrators. Recent accounts from Bahawalpur’s Islamia University highlights instances of sexual harassment inflicted upon women by people having authority.

Complaint Lodged to The Woman Ombudsman, Punjab

The female administrative staff has lodged a formal complaint with The Woman Ombudsman, Government of Punjab, presenting allegations of harassment against senior faculty members in their submitted application.

Victim Names the Senior Faculty Members of Islamia University in Her Complaint

The victim’s name is Farkhanda Tehseen who had previously complained but had been ignored. She has now put forth a complaint to the Woman Ombudsman, Government of Punjab. The victim has also stated in the complaint that she is receiving threats from the harassers and fears her life.

The subject on the complaint submitted reads:

Request to inquire after the matter of harassment at workplace against Dr Rao Imran Habib, Dean Faculty of Law, Dr Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr Jawad Iqbal, In-charge faculty of Management Sciences & Mr Masood Bukhari, SLO South Punjab, Civil Secretariat.

In her complaint she states,

I am one of the senior officers of the Management of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur even then I am one of the female victim(s) being harassed and severely victimised with the hands of Dr Rao Imran Habib, Dean Faculty of Law, Dr Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr Jawad Iqbal, In-charge faculty of Management Sciences for the last several months under patronage of Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Pro vice Chancellor Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

The complaint lists down the entire incident of harassment that has been carried out for the past several months and the steps she has taken but to no avail. It has also come to light that Ms. Farkhanda has already complaint against Dr. Imran Rao on June 10th, 2023 but no action was taken. Instead a committee was formed that did not do anything at all.
