Who is a Sub-lieutenant in a Naval Officer?
Sub-lieutenant is generally a junior military officer rank. In the Royal Navy (RN), the rank of sub-lieutenant is equivalent to the rank of lieutenant in the British Army and a flying officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF). A sub-lieutenant is also a naval commissioned or subordinate officer in many navies – they usually rank below a lieutenant.
However, in Pakistan, the hierarchy is different. From lowest to highest position: Midshipman, Sub Lieutenant (S/Lt), Lieutenant (Lt), Lieutenant Commander (Lt Cdr), Commander (Cdr), Captain (Capt), Commodore (Cdre), Rear Admiral (RAdm), and Vice Admiral (VAdm), and Admiral (Adm).
We congratulate Fatima Changezi and her family on this occasion. Hopefully, more and more Pakistani women will get inspired by efforts made by such powerful and strong women as Sub-Lieutenant Fatima Changezi. It is great to see women finally adopting different roles in our societies other than the roles of a daughter, wife, mother, etc.
