Summer time calls for wet-looking, post-pool, sun kissed, dewy skin with a natural glossy glow. Now since we are in the middle of the pandemic, and beaches are off limits, why not recreate a balmy summer look at home, with the help of some makeup of course. With highlighters making a comeback in the past years, there has been a shift from the apparent glitter filled cheeks to a more natural, healthier, overall wash of glow. Now that’s where dolphin skin plays its part.
Instagram is lately abuzz with the hot, new beauty trend, called the ‘Dolphin Skin’. The latest fad, Dolphin Skin is all about that effortless glow perfect for summertime.
The summer heat calls for dewy, glossy skin without looking oily or greasy. This amped up, slippery-looking skin that looks silky and smooth rather than oily, is what ‘dolphin skin’ look is ALL ABOUT!
In case you don’t know already, glowing, smooth skin is what’s considered an ideal beauty standard in the world. The desire to having perfect glass skin or yoga skin, without pores or blemishes, is what skincare and beauty brands feed on.
Named by the A-List celebrity makeup artist, Mary Phillips, who has celeb clients like Kendall Jenner, Chrissy Teigen, Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid, and Hailey Bieber has suggested to layer up the skin with glow-getters to that perfect, illuminating fresh sheen on the cheeks.
How to Get Dolphin Skin?
Now to reach that level of sheen (as if you’re freshly licked by a seal) Mary says;
“Use ICONIC London’s Prep-Set-Glow and Illuminator for a fresh, glowy look that won’t budge. Then, use the Sheer Blush to add a “sheer gloss of colour to the cheekbone, to add to the dewy wet glow.”
The good news is, however, is that you don’t necessarily need sets from Iconic London to achieve dolphin skin, as opposed to shown on Instagram.
From what one can see, it seems like Iconic London has maximised on the ‘dolphin skin’ trend and created a paid partnership and collaborative campaign with influencer partners on Instagram for promotion. Now, it is true that Iconic London highlighters and blushes do provide the perfect high-sheen dolphin skin look, but this isn’t the ONLY way to achieve it. And if you do fancy a makeup splurge, it doesn’t have to be just this brand.
Step 1: You can create the dolphin skin by ensuring a properly moisturised face, smeared with sun cream on top.
Step 2: Instead of opting for mattifying products, use high-shine liquid highlighters along the cheek bones.
Step 3: Then add a sheen blush on your cheeks for an extra dewy, glowing complexion (These can be any brands’).
Follow these steps and get perfect sea side skin without stepping out of the house!
