Internet sensation Arshad Khan, popularly known as Chaiwala stepped into the spotlight after pictures of the handsome Pathan went viral on social media.
Khan, whose pictures were clicked by a professional photographer Jiah Ali, launched his own chai cafe in Islamabad in 2020, and from there he never looked back. Now, Arshad owns many chai cafes, including 2 in Lahore and 1 in Murree.
Khan still remembers that day very well, following Fajr, the 17-year-old had his breakfast and headed to work at his local Itwar (Sunday) market tea stall on the outskirts of Islamabad.
Chaiwala had been working at the market for 4 years – being one of 17 siblings, little attention was paid to his education and, as a result, he had only ever attended a few days of school.

Around 8pm, he heard the sound of a camera clicking. As soon as his blue-eyed gaze met the lens, his fate changed. Photographer Jiah Ali, who caught the shot, posted it on Instagram a month later with the caption “Hot tea”.
The picture went viral and, within days, people from around the world, including his home country, Pakistan, were discussing the Chaiwala’s astonishing good looks.
Since then, not only has he landed himself modelling contracts, but has also opened a business by the name of Cafe Chaiwala, which will soon be opening doors in London.
“I didn’t know that my looks were out of the ordinary. I think all Pashtun people are good-looking, so I didn’t think of myself as being special. My older brother says he is much more handsome than me,” Khan says.
In a previous interview, Khan stated “I am famous with the name Chai Wala instead of my original name. Chai wala is my identity now, and I am very satisfied to keep this title to myself and will keep the name the same for my chains.”
Now, he is ready to make more heads turn with his new cafe in London. This news broke on social media via Instagram.

Arshad Khan has now become a household name in Pakistan, he is making his nation very proud. His story from rags-to-riches is genuine, and beautiful, and proves that hard work indeed pays offs, you just have to want it bad enough.
