Catwalk Cares Season 2 Ends on a High Note [See Designerwear in Pictures]

Catwalk Cares Virtual Fashion shows Season 2, under the aegis of Catwalk Event Management & Productions’ with the support of Presenting Sponsor Bisconni Chocolatto  concluded on Day Three  with a medley of prestigious brands; leading designers; graduate collections from AIFD and the  world-premiere debut of an original song by Ali Tariq. The three day ‘Catwalk Cares Virtual Fashion Week Season Two’ will air on ARY DIGITAL at 9 pm on August 14th 15th & 16th, 2020 with day three featured on August 16th

SHAMSHA HASHWANI

Shamsha Hashwani’s artisinal  Luxe Prêt-à-Porter Eastern Fusion capsule  ‘Behesht’ resonated with Old World grandeur with three  elegant womenswear and two suave  menswear ensembles. The womenswear  outfits included sleeveless high-low coat- tunics worn with wide  border- embroidered  pants and ‘ a full sleeved kurta tunic worn with cropped pants and billowing shawl like dupattas.

These were beautifully crafted with cream-ecru silk Karandi and highlighted with delicate red and bunt sienna orange Kashmiri embroidery. Menswear included a cream cropped front gown   Prince jacket worn with a tunic shirt and straight pants and a classic shalwar kameez suit. The conrempo-traditional collection was elegantly modeled by supermodels Fouzia Aman and Hasnain Lehri.

LAWRENCEPUR

Leading iconic brand Lawrencepur’ s Autumn/Winter Collection 2020 was inspired by the dapper styles of the 1950s, the epoch when the brand Lawrencepur was initially  launched. The capsule collection included five looks imbued with ’50s fashion trends updated with a contemporary touch. These included double-breasted and six button jackets and suits; complementing, trousers, slim shirts, classic ties and flamboyant pocket squares.

Trend- looks that have made their way back into fashion in 2020. Classic masculine colours used included steel grey, cream, camel, dark cobalt and navy blue. These looks were suavely modeled by supermodel /actor Shahzad Noor.

NAUMAN AFREEN

Nauman Afreen’s Summer/Autumn 2020 collection ‘Muskaan’ was inspired by the ideals of positivity, energy and joy, keeping in mind the stress caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The festive, traditional collection included  four menswear pieces comprising of elegant  beige and off-white embroidered  jamawar and , raw silk sherwanis  and one womenswear piece;  a stunning soft pistachio  pearl- work embellished  net sari showcased  in an artistic Fashion film starring TV and film actor/singer Junaid Khan and TV actress  Rubab Hashm bedecked in fine  Old World traditional jewellery.

Says Nauman Afreen: “Catwalk Cares was an opportunity to sustain and promote the Pakistani fashion industry not just by showcasing designer collections but helping to strengthen labor class staffs that are affected the most during the Covid -19 pandemic.”

AIFD GRADUATES

Aiman Rao  Sehrish Talpur  Omair Mazhar &  Laraib Yousuf Asian Institute of Fashion Design (AIFD), a constituent design campus of Iqra University presented one garment each from four  recent graduates’ collections including those of Aiman Rao  Sehrish Talpur  Omair Mazhar and  Laraib Yousuf and artistically modelled by  Raahima Ali and Bisha Abbas .

Aiman Rao’s ‘African Tribal Culture’  daywear garment took inspiration  from African tribal culture and art using silk in a yellow hue accented with a kaleidoscope of multicoloured aluminum bottle caps, hand -painted with African tribal script and combined with fabric scraps in the form of appliqué.

Sehrish Talpur’s  ‘ Egyptian Hieroglyphs’ evening wear garment was inspired by ancient Egyptian Art forms and culture including deities and hieroglyphics and was made of Egyptian  cotton in a cafe au lait hue  hand-painted  with coffee to render a look of faded Egyptian script.

Omair Mazhar’s  ‘A Trip Down The Memory Lane’ evening wear garment; a cotton silk ball gown in brown tones paid homage to his beloved father and his poetry and  used  original  poetry scripts from  different phases of his  father’s life as  print on the garmen dovetailed with different handcrafted  techniques to render a vintage feel.

Laraib Yousuf ‘s’Origami and Macramé’ avant- garde garment was artistically  created with a combination of Origami sculpting ( the Japanese art form of folding paper into three- imensional objects) and Macramé. (The art of knotting) using chamois silk in shades of midnight blue and beige

ROZINA MUNIB

Rising star-designer Rozina Munib  presented her chic and eclectic semi-formal collection ‘Sands of Arabia’ inspired by “the mesmerizing view of sand sparking bright like a diamond, under the sun’ .and  modelled by the equally  stunning  star model Fahmeen Ansari.

Using a mix of pure silk and net. In subtle hues, the five piece capsule collection included a smoke grey sleeveless high- low intricately backless tunic paired with wide pants; a burnt coral short belted tunic with a net tasseled shawl-like overlay; a blue grey delicately embroidered kaftan; dress; a sparkly cool grey sheath gown and a soft coral silver -belted jumpsuit won with a complementing collared bell-sleeved opera coat.

‘Catwalk Cares Season Two’ – reminiscen of Fashion Weeks’ live entertainment – was endnote by a live performance on stage by singer Ali Tariq (of ”Parey Hut Love”s  ‘Bekha Na” fame) who  world-  premiered his first original  song  ‘Chaho Na.’ the first time the artist  had performed at a fashion event at the invitation of  Frieha Altaf and Catwalk Event Management & Productions.
