Currently, the Skardu airport’s new runway is in the making. Authorities are also ensuring facilities for helicopter landings. Soon, the airport in Skardu will receive the status of an international airport.

Promotion of Tourism
In a press interview, CAA’s director-general, Khaqan Murtaza, said, “Through big planes’ operation, we are planning to promote tourism in Gilgit, Chitral, and Skardu.” In addition, foreign flights have also been permitted to land in Skardu.
He concluded by saying that to attract tourism in Gwadar, Mohenjo Daro, and Turbat, CAA has also begun its operation in the respective region, “operations at Saidu Sharif airport have been started as well.”
Many domestic flights have already begun operations to the Skardu airport. To boost tourism in the region, it is essential that more flights head to Skardu airport as the way by road is long and full of obstacles such as land sliding and rain.
