Khalil ur Rahman Qamar has always been in the spotlight for his ‘misogynistic’ remarks about women. Qamar is a renowned writer, director, Urdu poet, lyricist and occasional actor.
In a recent interview with neo Pakistan, he was asked who are disloyal, men or women? To this question, he asked his fellow co-stars who were also present during the interview as well as the host the meaning of ‘loyalty’.
One replied, ‘not cheating on oneself’ whereas another added ‘to be loyal to your own self and to others as well’. He then says, without complicating it further, he will share the definition, and he also claimed that none of the ladies present would be able to disagree with him. He then stated that a loyal person is one who deliberately lets go of chances to be unfaithful (koi wafadar is liye hota hai, kyun ke woh jan-bhuj ke bewafai ke sab mawake zaya kardeta hai).
He further stated that in his eyes, a woman’s status is higher than a man’s status, because according to him the most opportunities to cheat are offered to women. He then adds that a man does not have the capability to say ‘no’ whereas a woman does. This discriminates the two, making the woman a higher status compared to her counterpart.
Khalil ur Rehman continued saying that disloyalty exists at both ends, and it is on the higher side of men, as they have a slogan of 4 marriages and gives this as a reason to be disloyal and women don’t have this reason because when a man is disloyal, it ruins 1 home, but when a woman is unloyal, she destroys an entire generation.
He further stated it may seem like he is favouring men, but in fact, he is trying to preach to women that once she is in a relationship, and has been bonded, she should not betray a man or their family.

All in all, it is not appropriate to make generalizations about the loyalty of men or women as a whole. Loyalty is a trait that can be found in people of any gender.
It is important to remember that individuals should be judged based on their own actions and character, rather than being judged as a member of a particular group.
