Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating autoimmune disease affecting millions worldwide, including Pakistani actor Iman Ali.
MS is a chronic condition that affects the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of MS can vary significantly from person to person and can also change over time.
Iman Ali recently appeared on the talk show “Hasna Mana Hai” where she discussed the challenges she faces due to her MS.
She revealed that she had experienced temporary blindness at one point and has been dealing with numbness in her hands for the past 1.5 years. As a result, she is unable to use her hands properly.
Iman also opened up about her struggles with slurred speech, which has made it difficult for her to give interviews. She shared that she sometimes forgets things while speaking, which can be challenging during live interviews.
Despite these challenges, Iman remains a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, admired for her talent, grace, and resilience.
Previously, Iman Ali shared on her Instagram page that MS has completely changed her lifestyle. The disease has impacted her speech, movements, and everything else. However, she also shared that she is fighting on, just like other patients living with the condition.
Iman also highlighted that relapses happen and can be difficult to deal with. When there is a relapse, blurred vision is a common symptom, often accompanied by dizziness.
MS symptoms can be different for each person. Some common symptoms of MS include numbness or weakness in one or more limbs, electric-shock sensations, lack of coordination or unsteady gait, and vision problems.
“MS affects the nerves in the brain and the most common symptom is blurred vision,” she said. “When there is a relapse, the blurred vision is also accompanied by dizziness. So in honour of World MS Day on May 30, I am uploading a #Blurfie and urge you all to show support.”
Vision problems in MS are common, including partial or complete blindness usually in one eye at a time and often accompanied by pain during eye movement. Other symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, tingling, or pain in parts of your body.
Treatment for MS can include medication to manage symptoms and slow down the progression of the disease. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy can also help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
In addition, making lifestyle changes such as getting regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, and managing stress can also be beneficial for people living with MS.
Living with MS can be challenging, but with the right support and treatment, people can manage their symptoms and lead fulfilling lives. It is important to raise awareness about MS and support those living with the condition.
