Thousands of men, women, and children have lost their lives today as massive jolts of earthquakes shake Turkey, Syria and surrounding areas.

With thousands injured, and major damage to the infrastructure, many and looking for their loved ones, waiting for good news to come their way.

According to the latest statistics, more than 1,800 have been reported as deceased in Turkey and Syria, moreover, a 2nd earthquake of 7.5 magnitudes has hit the region.

Reportedly, a 3-rd wave has hit the region as well.

Rescue operations are underway, Turkey has requested the international community for aid and assistance to help its citizens.

Tulin Akkaya, who lives in Diyarbakir, around 180 miles east of where the quakes struck, said she was still trying to gather herself after the first quake when the second one hit.

“I am so scared. I felt [it] so strongly because I live on the top floor,” she told the AFP news agency. ‘We rushed outside in panic. I can’t go back to my apartment now – I don’t know what will happen next.” She concluded.

Melisa Salman, who is based in Kahramanmaras, said living in an earthquake zone meant she was used to “being shaken”, but that today was “the first time we have ever experienced anything like that”. “We thought it was the apocalypse,” she added.

Pakistani artists and celebs have extended their condolences and support to the earthquake victims. They took to social media to pen down their thoughts for the families affected by the devastating act of nature.

‘Prayers for those affected in Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. May Allah have mercy on all of us.’ Wrote popular actress Saba Qamar.

Fakhre Alam shared, “Deeply saddened to hear about the massive earthquake in Turkiye. It was 7.1 in magnitude and many buildings collapsed. This is catastrophic. Many many casualties were feared. May the Almighty have mercy on all.” He added in another tweet, “The situation in Turkiye is dire and the country has already appealed for international assistance. Please take a moment to say a prayer for all those that have perished.”

Aiman Khan took to Instagram to express her condolences to the families.

Thousands of individuals are still waiting to find their way out of the rubble as rescue workers continue to look for survivors.
