Pakistan’s luxury fashion brand Elan, owned by Khadija Shah, has made it to the headlines for non-payment to models and ex-employee after they raised voices on social media platforms regarding the issue.
As reported by Images, Shah has cleared dues of models and ex-employee who took the matter to social media. She said, “Yes, the pandemic has been tough for us […] I have looked into the matter, and the pending payments have been cleared.”
There are a Plethora of Unaddressed Complaints
It isn’t just the models and the ex-employee who suffered due to negligence on the brand’s end; even customers who have paid thousands of rupees in advance have suffered as they have not received their clothes.
Facebook group Voice of Customer is full of complaints regarding Elan’s customer department, which hasn’t addressed their concerns of non-delivery and other such issues. These complaints primarily include the non-delivery of Elan’s unstitched collection (each jora comes with a price tag ranging from Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 20,000) that usually sells out quickly on their website.
Makeup artist Omayr Waqar who ended up commenting on Instagram to show support to his friend, received backlash for not realizing his privilege in this case.
A user on Instagram commented that the news headlines today only were about delayed payments, but if you did a little digging, there are many unaddressed complaints.
We all know how the pandemic has hit businesses globally, and Elan is familiar with the atrocities that have followed. We truly hope that Elan restores back to its original self, pays its models, employee, and values its customers as it did earlier.

Pakistani crystal artist Sara Shakeel has accused fast fashion brand SHEIN of stealing her artwork and selling it on their website. On October 8, the crystal artist posted a picture of her latest work, a tissue roll full of crystal diamonds. Shein quickly picked it up and sold the artist’s work without her acknowledgment. One of the users alerted Sara after finding her painting sold for a couple of pounds on the site.
