L’Oréal Paris and Soorty Enterprises Pvt Ltd have come forward and raised their voice to eliminate gender violence on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
What is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women?
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is an initiative of 16 days of activism that will conclude on the day that celebrates International Human Rights Day (10th of December). The campaign is aimed to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world. It calls upon global leaders to take action to increase awareness, promote advocacy and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions.
Soorty Enterprises Pvt Ltd
In Pakistan, Soorty Enterprises Pvt Ltd organized a panel discussion backed up by their ongoing programs, Soorty Enhancing Women’s Service (SEWS) project and the Soorty ACTS Forum.
The discussion enlightened staff and attendees about how gender violence is a structured societal flaw and not a singular interaction. It is also about simple behaviors – how one approaches another in work or private settings. The discussion further brought light upon businesses today that are looking forward to raising voices and implementing tools actively to eliminate genre violence.
L’oreal Paris
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, L’oreal Paris has collaborated with NGOs and launched the Standup against Street Harassment movement. This mainly trains people with the help of the 5D methodology. As per L’oreal Paris, the 5Ds stand for Direct, Distract, Delegate, Document, and Delay, which can become simple yet effective means to help people intervene when they witness or experience street harassment.
Moreover, L’oreal Paris is also partnering with AIESIC to reach out to thousands of youth with diverse backgrounds from all across Pakistan.
