In the latest developments, NADRA’s new policy can help identify if a man is already committed to another woman prior to their current relationship.
In Pakistan, by law and as religious guidance, a man can marry 4 women at a time. While the law permits to do so, it strictly suggests that other women must acknowledge it. Men must receive permission from previous wive or wives to remarry.
Women Can Now Cross-Check Fears with NADRA
Often, women tend not to prefer a man with multiple wives, so men often lie. However, NADRA’s latest policy can easily reveal family trees making it considerably easier for women to find out if a man is already married or has a second wife that he kept a secret.

Here is How You Can Find Out If Your Husband Has Any Secret Marriages
You have to send the CNIC of your husband number or your husband to be and its date of issuance to 8009. The new system for verification of family members launched under the Qaumi Tasdeeq-o-Tajdeed campaign will update you with the latest information.
Here is the text format: <13 digit CNIC No> Space <Issue Date>
In response to this message, you will receive details of your family members. If the information is correct, then reply ‘2’ to confirm it to the authority.
If you wish, you can make changes to the sent information, if incorrect. Write ‘1’ in reply to inform NADRA. Of course, to use this facility, citizens must register their mobile numbers from any NADRA centre. A representative of the NADRA will then contact you from its helpline 051-2778009.
