Solo travelling is an adventure of its own. It allows a person to reach new heights, learn, explore, and most importantly allows people to step out of their comfort zones, try new cuisines, speak new languages and much more. While travelling with friends and family has its own fun, there is nothing like experiencing solo travelling.
While men are more comfortable than females, in recent times we have come across a number of girls who are showing the world that they can travel too without any supervision required. Being on the road, in a new country, amongst people you have yet to meet is indescribable.
There’s a bit of nervousness and excitement, but most importantly it’s liberating and boosts confidence. Nonetheless, no matter where you go, it’s always important to be careful and stay on alert.
7 Tips & Tricks For Solo Female Travellers
Today will be sharing tips as well as some tricks that will help solo female travellers.
1. Make a List of Essentials Before you Get Packing
Start doing your homework at least a week before you head out. Search the weather, and the local culture, learn about the fashion trends online and then pack your luggage accordingly. This will ensure you won’t have to spend extra cash to buy something last minute from the destination, not to forget you won’t have to worry about making space in your luggage.

2. Travel Off-Season
Travelling off-season will save you some extra money and will allow you to enjoy the destinations you wish to visit with more ease as there will be fewer people around. Book your flight a few months in advance so that you won’t have to pay extra money when the rates go up.
3. Start with Small Trips
If you are planning a trip for the first time on your own, don’t go too far away. Make sure you do your research and go to a destination that is popular for female travel and is safe. Moreover, it’s helpful if you have extended family or friends of close friends nearby. Try avoiding going out late at night and be home before it gets too dark outside.
4. Wear Your Confidence, Even if it’s Fake
There is a popular saying, ‘fake it till you make it’ which fits here perfectly. Even if it doesn’t come from the inside, put on a confident face in public, and during transport, keep your head held high and try avoiding using your phone or a map because they will allow others to know you’re a tourist. If you need to revisit your route, walk into a cafe or a safe space and check the map, moreover try using local transportation to help you get there.
5. Take Self-Defence Classes Before Heading Out
Even if you have a mere number of days to your big day, it is always a smart idea to take self-defence classes. Knowing that you are capable of protecting yourself in such situations will give you the boost you need to enjoy your travel days. You can keep pepper spray and other self-protection gadgets on you when leaving your accommodation.

6. Reviews Matter
Before you book a hotel room, a table at a restaurant, or are considering a certain locality to visit, be sure to read reviews. They will help you understand the experiences of those before you and will help keep you safe from any danger.
7. Keep your Passport in a Safe Place Along with Extra Money
It is not uncommon to have your passport stolen or lost, which is why we’d advise all solo female travellers to keep their passports and an amount of money which can keep you out of trouble for at least 1 week in a safe place. You can consider buying a fanny pack that can be hidden under your clothes, or simply find a spot in your hotel you think is a good hiding place.
