- The Supreme Court ordered the closure of all restaurants in the Margalla Hills National Park, including the Monal Restaurant, and dismissed the CDA’s report on Monal.
- Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa questioned the inclusion of the Supreme Court building and the CDA office within the park, suggesting that if they were within the park, the CDA should consider demolishing its building.
- The court previously demanded detailed information on all restaurants in the park and the original records of the land lease agreement between Monal Restaurant and the Directorate of Remount Veterinary and Farms (RVM).
The Supreme Court on Tuesday mandated the closure of all restaurants, including the renowned Monal Restaurant, in the Margalla Hills National Park.
Additionally, the court dismissed the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) report on Islamabad’s Monal restaurant.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked that the Supreme Court had requested a report on several other restaurants. He acknowledged that the report also included details on the Sports Club Pak-China Center and Arts Council National Monument, praising the CDA officials for their honesty.
Chief Justice Isa then questioned whether the Supreme Court building and the CDA office were located within the Margalla National Park. He suggested that if so, the CDA should consider demolishing its building.

Justice Isa noted that the widespread knowledge of the numerous restaurants built alongside the Monal Restaurant seemed to elude only the CDA.
In March, the Supreme Court had demanded detailed information from authorities within a month regarding all restaurants operating in the National Park.
The court had also requested comprehensive details and original records related to a land lease agreement between Monal Restaurant and the Directorate of Remount Veterinary and Farms (RVM).
Monal Restaurant owner had been instructed to evacuate the land within 42 hours almost 2 years ago as well. Islamabad High Court Chief Justice, Athar Minallah, ruled that commercial activities on the land of the Islamabad Hills National Park can’t be allowed.
“The land should once again be handed back to the park,” the court ordered.
