Sabiha Chand from Ghizer District, located in the westernmost part of the Gilgit-Baltistan region, has become the first female CSP officer.
Sabiha has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in Gilgit-Balochistan. Only 5 candidates from the GB region have been appointed this year. A total of 17,240 candidates appeared in the written examination. Only 365 passed the written exam, out of which only 349 passed after the Viva Voce.
At this stage, 218 candidates were male, while 131 candidates were female. It is pertinent to mention that only 207 candidates were recommended for an appointment, out of which 134 were male candidates, and 73 were female candidates.
Sabiha Chand is one out of the 73 females recommended for an appointment. Her responsibilities as an Inspector General (IG) will include administrative management of the police force.
Congratulations started pouring in as soon as a result came out on the 15th of February.

While 207 candidates made it this year, the top 3 candidates (all male) come from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) – Ali Naeem Sheikh in the first position, Ahsan Fraz Gondal in the second position, and Haroon in the third position.

The Sher sisters are exemplary instances of women’s empowerment in Pakistan. Zoha Malik Sher, the youngest one of five sisters, has set a unique record of clearing the CSS Examination and becoming part of the bureaucracy. She successfully cleared the examination and is allocated to the Office Management Group (OMG). Her other sisters are currently serving at different positions in the bureaucracy.
