Priyanka Chopra’s New York City Eatery ‘SONA’ finally opened its doors for its customers 2 days ago. From the pictures, the interior looks ravishing, very modern, yet reminds you of the subcontinent. The restaurant’s menu has gotten the attention the most as it serves exquisite Indian food but, of course, with a mind-blowing twist.

Dishes that have become popular on social media instantly are Tequila Gol Gappas, Crab Puri, & Spinach Samosas. Priyanka wrote in a post on Instagram that her craving for Indian food is what pushed her to open up this restaurant in New York.  She wrote, “What started as a simple craving for great Indian food has become this labor of love, and I can’t wait to welcome you all in, and for you to experience timeless India in the heart of NYC!”

She thanked the team for their efforts, “This has been a team effort all the way… from the many many menu deliberations, food tastings, and decor decisions with @maneeshkgoyal, @davidrabin8, Chef @harinayak, and @mabowersinc.”

Fun fact: Priyanka’s Husband, Nick Jonas, came up with the restaurant’s name. SONA means gold in Hindi.

She further added, “All thanks to @nickjonas – yes! Hubby came up with the name at an early tasting with the team, as Sona means “gold,” and he had heard that word in India, well…A LOT, throughout our wedding! “

Beautiful Scenes from the Opening Night of the restaurant

Keeping the pandemic in mind, Chopra informed her fans that all safety guidelines are being taken care of. “We’re opening following all NYC and NY State safety guidelines to ensure you have a night to remember. I’m devastated I’m not there to celebrate, but I’m definitely there in heart and spirit…and on FaceTime.”

Here are some pictures of the dishes making rounds on social media:

Aged Cheddar Dosa with Turmeric Edamame Mash, Coconut Chutney, and Tandoor Roasted Beets with cumin are also some dishes on the menu. The chef’s signature dishes include Kofta Korma which consists of Dancing Ewe Farms Ricotta Dumpling, Cashew Sauce, Chili Cheese Naan, Cashew Chicken Meatballs, and Black Pepper Short Rib.
