On the directives of Imran Khan, the e-passport facility has been introduced. The online visa has been made available in 191 countries, adding to the developments made.
In its initial phase, the e-passport facility will be available for diplomatic and government officials and will later be open to all citizens.
Considering the issues travellers encounter on a day-to-day basis, the development will prove to be quite beneficial for Pakistanis living abroad who wish to process online applications conveniently. This move aims to eradicate all the hurdles in the current manual system.
Moreover, with everything online, biometric documents will speed up the identification process of travellers. This will simplify passport control and cover the way for the automation of services, just as you may have experienced abroad.
What will the E-Passport look like?
The e-passports will carry various forms of security checks. A microchip will be embedded in them, which will comprise an individual’s biometric information, just like the National Identity Card. It will help authenticate the identity of the travellers quickly. The e-passport will also include two pictures of the passport holder on the main page.
The launch of the e-passport will also eventually mean that travellers will be able to board the plane quicker than before as the travel procedure within the shortest time.
The government had also earlier declared that all visa applications would be processed through an online visa portal to diminish the exhausting manual visa system and allow citizens to apply for visas securely and easily.
