The Ludo Couple with a Heartbreaking Story
Iqra Jeewani (19) from Pakistan and Mulayam Singh (21) from India had a fascinating love story until it ended tragically. Known as the ludo couple, both youngsters met online over a popular online game.
They hit it off and decided they wanted to be together forever by tying the knot. However, loving across borders is not as easy as one thinks. The young ludo couple knew this kind of love was impossible, but they didn’t want to give up.
Within some time, Jeewani’s family started to pressure her into getting married so the couple decided its high time they try their luck. They planned a plan in which Iqra travelled to Nepal where he was waiting for her.
The two got married and moved to Banglore, India where they started to live together. However, a couple of months after, Jeewani was detained for entering the country illegally and Yadav was jailed for fraud and forgery.
The 19-year-old returned home last week while her better half still remains in jail. “We want them home,” said Yadav’s brother Jeetlal. “We understand the situation between India and Pakistan. But all they did was fall in love,” BBC quoted Jeetlal as saying.
In order to unite, the ludo couple had to take some illegal steps. Yadav arranged a fake identity card for her and took her to India. There, the man would go out to work while the wife would stay home. However, she frequently called home via WhatsApp which led to the end of her love story.
“As of now, there is no offence made out against her other than just coming into the country illegally,” S Girish, deputy police commissioner in Bangalore’s Whitefield district, told the BBC.
However, Yadav’s mother still has a wish that the couple will one day reunite with the government’s help. “We don’t care if she’s Muslim or Pakistani, she’s our daughter-in-law. We’ll take good care of her,” she was quoted as saying.
This is not the first time an Indo-Pak couple tried to find their way to each other. A woman was caught by Indian police at the Attari Border in Amritsar while trying to cross over to reach Pakistan last June.
