First world countries have begun vaccinating their citizens at the speed of light while developing countries are rolling in the vaccine slowly and gradually. In Pakistan, the vaccine was first administered to frontline heroes that included doctors, nurses, and others until the beginning of the year.
In the second phase, it is turn for senior citizens above 65 to get vaccinated as they are more vulnerable to the virus. Across the globe, governments have vaccinated more vulnerable groups before making the vaccine available for all.
Veteran actress Bushra Ansari has recently updated her fans on Instagram to get her first shot of vaccine against COVID-19. She said, “I’ve never enjoyed being a senior citizen before this as much as I’m enjoying now,” she laughed. She added, “All those who were hiding that they were 60 plus now have no choice but to agree to their age — as I did.”
It has also become a trend for people to document them getting a shot of the COVID-19 vaccine and upload it on social media. This is because there are still many rumours regarding the vaccine that convinces many people that it is unimportant or not safe to get. In the quest to advocate the usage of vaccine, we think it is a brilliant move by celebrities to encourage the general public to get vaccinated whenever available.
The registration for senior citizens to get the vaccine began in the middle of Feb. Soon after, the news was announced by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr Faisal Sultan, on Twitter. “All Pakistanis above the age of 65 can start registration for the Covid-19 vaccine starting today. Send an SMS from any mobile phone with your CNIC to 1166 or visit nims.nadra.gov.pk to get registered. Vaccine centre and date of appointment be communicated once the vaccine arrives,” he had tweeted.
