Pakistani social activist and motivational speaker Muniba Mazari left her fans and followers all joyful when she shared a picture in which she can be seen walking on her feet again.
Tragic Story Of Muniba’s Lethal Accident
In 2007, the Pakistan’s goodwill ambassador for UN Women met with a tragic accident when she was traveling from Quetta to Rahim Yar Khan. She sustained multiple injuries including one on her spinal cord that left her lower limbs paraplegic.
She shared in an interview:
I met with a car accident. I was travelling from Quetta to my hometown in Rahim Yar Khan. The driver [her husband] slept and the car fell into a ditch
After the event, she was bedridden for almost 2 years and then got moved to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Muniba has had three major and two minor surgeries and the doctors had to put a lot of metal in her arm and backbone due to her multiple fractures. During this difficult phase, she rediscovered her life from a new perspective and started to motivate others with her inspirational story.
Turning tragedy into an opportunity
The accident was life changing. It shattered her plans and left her devastated. All she had were negative thoughts, depression, anxiety, anger, and frustration. However, she gradually regained her strength through her paintings and decided to move on with her life.
With her continuous efforts, she became the first Pakistani woman who was included in the list of Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2016. She was recognized for her active participation in raising awareness for women’s empowerment and gender equality in the country.
She also achieved the position of National Ambassador of UN Women of Pakistan and became the brand ambassador of a number of cosmetic brands including The Body Shop Pakistan.
