Late on Tuesday night, youngest Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai announced that she had tied the knot with Asser Malik in an intimate small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with family and friends.
Everyone is keen to know who is the man she finally said ‘Yes’ to. Let us introduce you to Asser Malik.
He is from Lahore, Pakistan and is the General Manager High Performance at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as per his Linkedin profile. On his Instagram, he has shared pictures from various matches.
Since the two kept their partnership private, no one can estimate how long they knew each other. However, on his Instagram, we can spot Malala present in the images posted in June 2019. Safe to say, they had known each other for over a year before getting married.
In July 2021, the two were photographed together on Malala’s 24th birthday

Malala dressed up in a simple yet elegant formal outfit in pink and gold while her husband, Asser Malik, wore a suit and, of course, matched his tie to his bride’s outfit.
Malala’s friend present at the event, Sarah Jehaan, also posted beautiful pictures from the event.
“Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life,” wrote Malala in an Instagram post.
“We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”
Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, tweeted, “It is beyond words. Toor Pekai and I are overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. Alhamdulillah.”

In June, during an interview with Vogue, the Nobel Laureate spoke about valuing partnership over marriage. She said, “I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers? Why can’t it just be a partnership?”
Her statement was taken out of context and turned into clickbait headlines which saddened her father greatly.
Ziauddin Yousafzai is Saddened that Malalal’s Comments Were Twisted out of Context on Social Media with Vicious Interpretations. Read the full story here:
Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, has cleared on social media that recent comment of her daughter from British Vogue’s interview was taken out of context, twisted, and circulated on social media with sinister interpretations. Malala’s recent interview with British Vogue included her speaking about marriage, and might I add; she said precisely as any 23-year old would have.
