- Fawad Khan is set to make a Bollywood comeback alongside Ridhi Dogra in a romantic comedy, with filming starting later this year, though the director remains unnamed.
- Khan has two Bollywood projects in the works, including a role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and he maintains good relationships with key figures in the Bollywood industry.
- His return follows past tensions between India and Pakistan, during which Pakistani actors were banned from working in India, but recent legal rulings have rejected calls for further restrictions.
Fawad Khan is reportedly making a comeback in Bollywood alongside Ridhi Dogra, as several Indian media outlets have indicated.
According to a source quoted by the Hindustan Times, Khan and Dogra will star in a romantic comedy, though the supporting cast has yet to be decided. The source added, “The paperwork has only recently been finalized, with the duo set to play romantic leads. However, the director’s identity is still under wraps.”
Filming for the project is expected to start later this year, with plans to release the movie either by the end of next year or early 2026, according to the publication. The film will reportedly be shot in various locations, including New York and London, to align with the movie’s theme. However, Pinkvilla confirmed that none of the scenes will be filmed in India.
Earlier this year, there were reports of Khan being cast alongside Vaani Kapoor. Sources told Filmfare that this project would soon enter production, but few additional details were revealed. Other Indian news outlets like News18 have also mentioned that Khan has two Bollywood films in the works, one of which is an appearance in Kartik Aaryan’s much-anticipated horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, slated for a November release.
Khan’s most recent Bollywood role was in Karan Johar’s 2016 romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, where he starred alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Khan revealed that he remains in touch with Karan Johar and the Kapoor family. “We still talk occasionally via chat or phone calls. I’ve maintained a great relationship with the Kapoor family, and there’s still a lot of mutual love and respect with Karan and Shakun [Batra],” he said. He added that despite the challenges, he continues to have a cordial and friendly relationship with members of the Bollywood community.
In a notable ruling last year, the Bombay High Court rejected a petition calling for a ban on Pakistani artists working in India, labeling it as counterproductive to cultural harmony, according to Dawn. After this decision, the petitioner escalated the issue to the Indian Supreme Court, which also dismissed the plea, advising against a narrow-minded approach, as reported by Scroll.
Khan’s return to Bollywood holds particular significance in light of the 2019 announcement by the All Indian Cine Workers Association banning Pakistani actors and artists from working in India following the Pulwama attacks. Prior to this, in 2016, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association had also prohibited Pakistani actors, singers, and technicians from working in Indian films due to ongoing tensions between the two nations.
