The father-daughter duo from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has made history by receiving their Ph.D. degrees on the same day from Peshawar Engineering University.
Today, in Pakistan, people have finally started to understand the importance of education for women. The reflection of this understanding has finally began to glance through examples such as this in our society – a woman receiving a Ph.D. degree in KPK, a province that is considered to be conservative and limits the movement of women in society. Not just that, she received it side by side with her father on the same day.
This truly is news that will go down in history and celebrated for ages to come. It will motivate other women to receive higher education in the region and the country.
Details revealed that Dr. Masood Khan, the Assistant Professor at the University of Peshawar’s Engineering Department, achieved Ph.D. degree in Mechatronics. At the same time, his daughter, Dr. Nadia Masood, was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering.
On this joyous occasion, Dr. Masood Khan has said that because of his domestic responsibilities, he could not complete his PhD whenme he began it. But now he has, and it is an honor for him to get his Ph.D. degree alongside his daughter, Dr. Nadia.
Dr. Nadia Masood said that it was challenging to get a Ph.D. degree. However, because she worked hard and had full support of her father, she was able to complete the doctorate degree. From this, we only learn that support systems are essential for women to achieve success in life.
