Since Tuesday night, the hashtag #ArrestUsmanMirza has been trending on Twitter after graphic videos of an incident circulated on social media. In the clips, Usman Mirza was seen assaulting, torturing and stripping a woman and man. Islamabad Police have now arrested Usman Mirza.
The FIR was registered after the video went viral on social media. The report said, “The video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, five to six men can be seen keeping the victims in custody under gunpoint. The accused also stripped the couple naked while threatening them.”
The case was registered under Section 354-A (assaulting and stripping a woman of her clothes), Section 506 (criminal intimidation), Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and Section 509 (sexual harassment) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the videos, Usman Mirza, with his friends, forcefully entered an apartment building in sector E-11/2 and sexually assaulted a man and a woman in Islamabad’s capital city.
Twitter is outraged to learn of the incident. The horrific incident has come forward just when the state is delaying to pass the domestic violence bill.
Comedian Ali Gul Pir said in a tweet:
U blame women for being raped cuz of their clothes, reject bills that will punish domestic abusers n now men go around raping girls n make videos of it. This 1 is in our capital city. A few kilometres from ur home Mr President @ImranKhanPTI
its time for a change #ArrestUsmanMirza

People are appealing to others to please stop sharing videos on social media
Appalled & horrified to see those videos. I don't have the heart to tweet about it. Please don't share the videos.

Don't know what the couple was doing, but NO ONE can slap, abuse, remove girl's clothes even if the couple was indulged into something immoral.
Usman and gang had NO rights. They must be arrested @ICT_Police

After this horrific moment went viral, only then the accused was put behind bars.
It took that woman's traumatizing moment to go viral on Twitter for everyone to see to get that man arrested months after that incident happened. That's the humiliation it takes for a woman to get an ounce of justice in Pakistan.#ArrestUsmanMirza

People know that the accused will get bail and he will be unharmed
What's worse is this time it's not even behind bars. Its not even a mug shot. You can see impunity in his eyes. He knows he will get out of unharmed.
