#ArrestUsmanMirza Trends on Twitter After Video of Woman & Man Getting Assaulted Goes Viral

Since Tuesday night, the hashtag #ArrestUsmanMirza has been trending on Twitter after graphic videos of an incident circulated on social media. In the clips, Usman Mirza was seen assaulting, torturing and stripping a woman and man. Islamabad Police have now arrested Usman Mirza.

The FIR was registered after the video went viral on social media. The report said, “The video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, five to six men can be seen keeping the victims in custody under gunpoint. The accused also stripped the couple naked while threatening them.”

The case was registered under Section 354-A (assaulting and stripping a woman of her clothes), Section 506 (criminal intimidation), Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and Section 509 (sexual harassment) of the Pakistan Penal Code. 

According to the videos, Usman Mirza, with his friends, forcefully entered an apartment building in sector E-11/2 and sexually assaulted a man and a woman in Islamabad’s capital city.

Twitter is outraged to learn of the incident. The horrific incident has come forward just when the state is delaying to pass the domestic violence bill.

Comedian Ali Gul Pir said in a tweet:

U blame women for being raped cuz of their clothes, reject bills that will punish domestic abusers n now men go around raping girls n make videos of it. This 1 is in our capital city. A few kilometres from ur home Mr President @ImranKhanPTI

People are appealing to others to please stop sharing videos on social media

After this horrific moment went viral, only then the accused was put behind bars.
