Pakistan’s very own Ayla Majid has become the first ever South Asian woman to become the Vice-President of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Majid was elected as the new Vice President after earlier serving as a member of the ACCA Global Council. Moreover, she was honoured as a Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Future Council on Energy Transition.
Ayla Majid is an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), an LLB from the University of London and an ACCA.
On the other hand, she advocates energy transition towards sustainable, affordable, and reliable energy for the larger global population and is the founder and CEO of Planetive.
Another historic milestone was achieved by ACCA when Joseph Owolabi was elected as ACCA president, the first-ever from Africa to lead the world’s leading professional accountancy body.
‘Being a finance professional has equipped me with the tools and connected me with people who are working towards creating action-oriented solutions for a sustainable world,’ she shared. For Ayla promoting the role of women in governance is something she is very passionate about.
She said: ‘It is the need of today’s forward-looking organisation.’ Ayla is a champion of board diversity and actively engages in promoting women on boards. She was the first female to sit on the board of any stock exchange in Pakistan. Thanks to pioneers like her, the influence and impact of women is changing the face of Pakistan.
