The first-ever commercial trans-led tailor shop has opened up in Karachi’s Saddar area. The Trans Pride Society announced on social media the inauguration of the shop exclusively led by trans people. The shop opened its doors on Sunday for customers.
The tailor shop in Karachi will be managed collectively by the community. An invite was extended for Karachi’s general population to get their clothes stitched from the shop by a trans person during an interview on a local TV channel. The shop is located in Jinnah Complex Apartment & Shopping Mall, M.A Jinnah Road, Saddar, Karachi, Pakistan. (UG Shop No 67, and 70)
Trans Pride Society is an NGO run by Nisha Rao, which helped up the trans community to set up the project. The official page of the society wrote in an Instagram post:
A momentous beginning! Trans Pride Society proudly announces the inauguration of the Trans Pride Tailor Shop. Trans Pride Stitch Shop is the first commercial tailor shop in Karachi solely run by members of the transgender community.
Earlier today, on 20 March 2021, the General Secretary of the Karachi Bar Association, Advocate Aamir Nawaz Waraich and Nuzhat Shirin, Chairperson of Sindh Commission on the Status of Women, our Chie Guests attended the opening ceremony and cut the ceremonial ribbon.
A big congratulations to our tailors and members of the Trans Pride Society on this new venture! We wish you lots of success in your new journey.

Society has been putting in efforts to showcase trans individuals on Instagram who are ready to take up the challenge and change their lives forever.
