Pakistan’s Sana Khan has proved to the nation that if you put your mind to it and have passion, you can achieve literally anything, no matter who you are.
Sana Khan is now the country’s first ACCA-qualified trans person. Belonging from Multan and settled in Islamabad, Khan had to face a number of challenges before she could make this breakthrough.
Sana Khan’s Journey Was a Rollercoaster
Because of her connection to the transgender community, she had more barriers in her path including nonacceptance. Nonetheless, she emerged victorious and remained positive no matter how ugly things got.
Since childhood, Sana was passionate to get quality education and make a career, and she has certainly achieved so. She completed her matriculation from a government school and later pursued her studies in finance.
In an interview with Samaa, Sana said that she studied (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) ACCA and later completed her Bachelors in Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brooks University.
Her passion and interest in finance made her the first ACCA-qualified transgender in Pakistan. Sana is currently working as a finance manager at a private organization.
Unfortunately, due to her sexual orientation, her siblings do not talk to her anymore, and ‘suggested’ she move out of the house and live on her own.
Sana Khan’s Message to the Trans Community in Pakistan
Moreover, she gave an inspiring message to the trans community, telling them that people like her should not consider disreputable jobs as an earning source but rather choose the path of education to earn a respectful livelihood for themselves.
Sana Khan’s inspirational journey is motivational for her fellow community members and is a lesson to others. No matter how much trans are frowned upon, they always find a way to climb their way up the ladder.
