Ramla Baig Honoured with Inspiring Woman of the Year 2023
Ramla Baig was recently honoured with the “Inspiring Woman of the Year 2023” award by France Ameriques and Berkeley Global Society. Recognised for her contributions to promoting human rights in Pakistan and her tireless advocacy for empowering women and young girls through different avenues such as Vakeel Online.
The awards ceremony was held in Paris and was attended by distinguished graduates from Berkeley, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Princeton, along with legal professionals and senior stakeholders from France.
Ramla highlighted the pressing need for the formulation of new laws pertaining to women’s economic opportunities, employment, and social security. She asserted that a pivotal aspect of women’s empowerment lies in legal empowerment, ensuring the safeguarding of women’s social, economic, and cultural rights.

Vakeel Online: Bridging Legal Assistance Gaps
Vakeel online was founded by Ramlah Baig who has an LLB from the University of London and a Master of Laws from the University of California, Berkeley. Apart from managing her online platform of providing pro bono advise to Pakistanis, she is also a Legal Counsel at Wateen Telecom Limited.
Ramlah previously worked for an NGO, Justice Project Pakistan and worked on the rights of the most vulnerable citizens: women and children prisoner’s rights. Her work in advocacy focuses on women education and the importance of legal literacy and empowerment.
