Shehryar Munawar had come under fire recently due to his presence at Fahad Mirza’s qawwali night. The gathering was star-studded as many guests made their way to celebrate Mirza’s birthday. Fans turned against Munawar because the actor had tweeted earlier to cancel CIE’s exams to Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.

After all, we must practice what we preach!

In a tweet, he wrote, “Let’s refrain from putting the health/safety of our students at risk, and instead find an alternate for physical exams. These students are the future of our country.”

Under the tweet, a Twitter user commented, “Is that you with Sarwat Gilani on Qawali night?” with a picture of Shehryar and Sarwat Gilani at the qawwali night without their masks on.

After that, Shehryar posted an elaborate apology on Instagram, saying. He explained what had happened and that he left the gathering with 5 minutes.

“Last week I went to wish my neighbour on his birthday on an invitation I had accepted two weeks prior. Not expecting the crowd, I wished him and left within 5 minutes of being there. In a candid moment, I was asked to take my mask off and pose for a picture.”

He accepted that his behaviour was indeed problematic. He acknowledged it and accepted his mistake.

“Rightly so, I was called out for doing that [taking mask off for a picture] and not following the SOPs. There is no justification for my actions, and I stand corrected.”

He continued says, “There is no justification for my actions, and I stand corrected. I apologize for my ignorance, lapse in judgement and lack of better sense. A big thank you to my social media family for keeping my moral compass in check. We owe each other as much.

One thing is clear that 2020 was tough for everyone. Whether you are a celebrity or a common man, rich or poor, the pandemic has hit us all in some way or another. While many of us battled with our finances, others fought with their mental and physical health. This happened because of worldwide lockdowns governments had to impose in different regions to curb the deadly COVID-19.

He said in a caption: “Sharing a shot from a commercial I shot for last week (coming soon). It’s not special because it’s a shirtless shot; it’s special because for me its a celebration of this year’s personal journey. A few months back, life came to a standstill and being a workaholic, and the stagnation took a huge toll on me emotionally. Went through severe depression – won’t go into the details of it.”

“To make things worse, I tested +ive for COVID and had to go into isolation, a few weeks out of that terrible experience, I got into a motorbike accident and had to undergo surgery. Mobility was completely restricted and relying on others to help me do the most basic tasks was emotionally traumatic, to say the least. I was on strong meds and was eating the weight of my emotions in carbs. Confidence was completely shattered, and it felt as if I’d hit rock bottom,” he added.

He posted a before and after pictures! “If you swipe right, you’ll see a selfie I clicked back in September. Even post the recovery, I had strict restrictions on body movements, and I’m still not allowed to lift weights. I hadn’t worked in a long time, and I had bills/salaries to pay, was in no shape, both physically or mentally, to go in front of the camera.”

He knew he has got in him what is required to fight back, and from there onwards, he worked hard with a trainer and a therapist to get back his life.

He continued, “So one day just like that, I decided I had to fight back. I worked with a trainer to develop workouts that would involve more focus based exercises without weights. I started eating healthier, forced myself to fix my sleep cycle, started meditating, mustered up the courage to speak to a therapist, actively worked on having a positive outlook on life (reading and research really helped ) and basically went on a lifestyle change/detox.”

Finally, he is feeling much better than before. His latest photoshoot with Syra Yousuf is nothing but proof of hard work and dedication. “Alhumdulillah, I’m grateful to my family and friends who supported me through my journey of recovery, however, most of all it has been my faith in the love the Almighty has for all His beings that kept me going.

A little Courage is all That it Takes

It’s taking a lot of courage out of me to be able to share the second picture with all of you. I want to do it to let you all know that we’re all in it together. We all go through highs and lows, and we’re all vulnerable. Not sometime today, not tomorrow, not the day after, NOW is the time to change your outlook. Tell yourself nothing is impossible. Because nothing is”.

It is not easy to bounce back once you fall, but it isn’t impossible. Anybody can do it with whatever resources available at their disposable. You have to give yourself time and give in your best. In the end, you will see results.
