The Senate of Pakistan has recently passed a resolution that calls for the government to prioritize digital education (digital skills) for women and girls in the country.
The resolution was passed unanimously and is aimed at providing a gender-responsive approach to innovation, technology, and digital education.
The resolution was moved by Seemee Ezdi and others, and it calls for the government to equip women and girls with digital skills by prioritizing education in Information Communication Technology subjects.
It also asks the government to allocate separate funds through Public Sector Development Programme projects on the digital empowerment of women.
According to the resolution, bringing women and other marginalized groups into technology results in more creative solutions and innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality.
