A leaked clip of Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and PPP MNA, Qadir Khan Mandokhail went viral last night after a local publishing house uploaded the clip on their Facebook page. Earlier on, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was in the news for passing absurd comments and verbal conflict with assistant commissioner Sonia Sadaf in public.
In the video, the two parties can be seen abusing each other verbally on the sets of a talk show. Dr Firdous was also seen slapping the MNA after things heated up between the two. Many wondered what went down on the sets of the show hosted by journalist Javed Chaudhry.

Since morning, #FirdousAshiqAwan was trading on Twitter. The public was waiting for Dr Ashiq Awan to release a statement about what happened behind the scenes. A statement was then issued by the Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information. She finally broke her silence over the recent viral video and said that her actions were the result of self-defence.
She claimed that the PPP MNA verbally abused her and questioned her father’s honour which she couldn’t withstand. After being harassed by the MNA, she got up in the rage of fire and slapped him while the show’s host was over-looking. She also went ahead and said the video was out of context and short – the full-length recording displays what had actually unfolded on the sets of the talk show.
Both parties should remain disciplined when appearing on national TV. Everyone is aware how talk shows are a place where personal attacks and heated arguments take place. Still, at the end of the day, these individuals’ responsibility is to check their behaviour, as this doesn’t suit a government servant.
