WWDC 2022 is here – top names in the electronics industry have announced exciting new electronics, gadgets, and gizmos. Global tech giant Apple also displayed something for everyone, including the company’s newest flagship which is supported by the much-awaited iOS 16.
Other devices that Apple unveiled at the event include their latest Macbook with the new M2 chip and Macbook Pro 13.
Here’s what Apple has in store for you for next year:
iOS 16
iOS 16 is being dubbed as the biggest update ever for the devices, which includes the lock screen, new intelligence features, communication and new sharing experiences.
Moreover, this update includes the new iCloud Shared Photo Library so that family and friends can share pictures and collections seamlessly with one another. Other updates include Live Text, Visual Look Up, Mails and Messages.
The aim of releasing this update was to enhance the overall user experience that will change the way how users use their iPhones.
Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering Craig Federighi shared:
iOS 16 is a big release with updates that will change the way you experience iPhone. We have reimagined how the Lock Screen looks and works with exciting new features that make it more personal and helpful, introduced iCloud Shared Photo Library for families, streamlined communication through new capabilities in Messages and Mail, and harnessed enhanced intelligence with updates to Live Text and Visual Look Up.
Personalized Lock-Screen Experience
The update takes the lock screen experience to a whole new level. The multilayer effect adds a beautiful artistic touch to make the elements stand out. The widgets are inspired by the Apple Watch, they include upcoming calendar events, the weather, battery levels, alarms, time zones, Activity ring progress, and more.

Moreover, users will have the freedom to use their favourite emojis or colour combinations and switch between images with a simple tap. Notifications have moved and will now roll up from below, this will give users a clearer view of the lock screen.
Focus
Focus ties the lock screen and widgets in a way that filters apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages, and Safari to bring forward content that is relevant to the user as compared to the other content.
Apple Pay Later
Apple Pay Later provides users in the US with a seamless and secure way to split the cost of an Apple Pay purchase into four equal payments spread over six weeks, with zero interest and no fees of any kind. Users can apply for Apple Pay Later when they are checking out with Apple Pay, or in Wallet. Apple Pay Later is available everywhere Apple Pay is accepted online or in-app, using the Mastercard network.
CarPlay
Now, CarPlay will be able to show multiple screens inside the vehicle with deeper integration allowing the user to control features like the temperature or radio directly through CarPlay.
MacBook Air & MacBook Pro with New M2 Chip
iOS 16 was not the only thing that Apple unveiled at WWDC 2022. They also introduced the all-new MacBook with the super M2 chip. It features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, 1080p HD camera, MagSafe charging, thin design, 4GB of fast unified memory, ProRes acceleration and 20-hours of battery life.
“We’re so excited to bring our new M2 chip to the world’s two most popular laptops — the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
“Completely redesigned around M2, MacBook Air is thinner, lighter, and faster with a bigger display, better camera, and all-day battery life, in four beautiful finishes. Only with Apple silicon can you build such a thin and light notebook with a fanless design, and this combination of performance and capabilities. M2 also comes to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, featuring incredible performance, ProRes acceleration, up to 24GB of memory, and up to 20 hours of battery life — making our most portable pro notebook even better.”
M2 is a second-generation Apple M series chip and has the amazing features of M1 with better upgrades. M2 features a next-generation 8-core CPU with advancements in both performance and efficiency cores with Apple’s next-generation GPU giving 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and supporting up to 24GB of fast unified memory. In addition to silver and space gray, MacBook Air is now available in two new finishes — midnight and starlight.
