Dubai Expo 2020 has awarded the Silver Award to Pakistan for interior design out of 192 pavilions. The Gold Award was awarded to Japan, while the Bronze Award was awarded to Spain.
Just last week, Pakistan bagged the BURJ CEO Award for “Best Pavilion Exterior Design.” Since the opening of the Dubai Expo 2020 in October last year, over one million people have visited the Pakistan Pavilion.
Pakistani Commerce Chief Abdul Razak Dawood announced the news in a series of tweets. He tweeted, “An international jury was called to select the best Pavilion at Expo 2020, and Pakistan got Silver Award for interior design out of 192 Pavilions. The response we received was overwhelming, & Pavilion already crossed the 1M visitors mark which exceeded our expectations.”

He thanked the team behind the Pakistan Pavilion, “We would like to thank our Creative team, especially Ms Noor Jahan for ( Interior) and Mr Rashid Rana for (Exterior) for their creativity in showing actual Pakistan to a broader audience. Last but not least our team in the Ministry of Commerce, TDAP, Our Embassy in UAE.”
He concluded by thanking Ambassador Afzal Mahmood for his efforts, “and Ambassador Afzal Mahmood, without their dedication, it won’t be possible to put on such a great show. Pakistan Zindabad!”

Congratulations to Pakistan for pulling this exhibition together with flying colours. The Dubai Expo 2020 has now come to an end; it closed on Thursday. Over $7 billion, 240 million hours of labour were invested in making this grand event possible which was open to the public for six months.

Pakistan Pavilion’s facade, designed by Rashid Rana, has won the ‘Best Pavilion Exterior Design’ at Dubai Expo 2020. Rana is a Pakistani artist who has been part of numerous exhibitions held in Pakistan and overseas. His work comprises abstractions on canvas, collaborations with billboard painters, photographic/video performances, collages using found material, photo mosaics, photo sculptures and large stainless steelworks have all been displayed in these exhibitions.
