Eid-ul-Azha is around the corner, and we all know that designers are all set to release their collections for upcoming holidays. A label known as AnM Closet run by actors Aiman Khan and Minhal Khan is accused of copying popular designer Zara Shahjahan’s designs. Let’s say they got inspired and went a little overboard with it that can easily be labeled as plagiarism.
In April, Shahjahan launched the Eid collection, which featured a Tuscan yellow floral printed loose-fit kurta paired with a classic floral shalwar and a matching printed organza dupatta.
The number was a hit as it reminded women of the older times when the look was particularly popular in Pakistan. The aesthetics alone were mesmerizing.
Fast forward July, when designers are releasing Eid-ul-Azha collections, AnM came out with a particularly similar piece with the same color palette, closely similar pattern, matching bottom and top paired with organza printed dupatta.
Now, because the piece mentioned above was hot, fans quickly spotted the similarities and called out AnM for blatantly copying Zara Shahjahan.
Furthermore, another dress from Zara Shahjahan was forged. This particular piece from the same collection was also seen on one of the sisters in pictures now making rounds on social media.
A side-by-side comparison shows, while this piece is not a complete rip-off of Zara Shahjahan’s design, it definitely belongs to the same color family and has a similar organza dupatta.
Zara Shahjahan’s designs are popular not just in Pakistan but worldwide. Many designers in the past are accused of copying the label’s work blatantly and have been called out for it.
