Pakistani origin Amna Ashraf has become the first woman of Pakistani origin in France to receive the french award for her services in the areas of education and social welfare.
In France, the National Order of Merit is the second national order after the Legion of Honour. It is presented to those individuals who have indicated merits in the exercise military, public, or civil function or of private activity for at least 10 years.
As per Amna, the French government has acknowledged her efforts as a Director and Founder of Femme Relais Médiatrice interculturelle de Champigny (FRMC). The organization essentially provides counseling and solutions to intercultural women. She is also the Director and Founder of “Pi” (Potential Incubator), an organization that assists young individuals in creating and unlocking their professional and business potential.
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Amna was 3 when she moved to France with her parents in 1977. Academically, she has a business background. Soon after completing her education, she organized social and cultural activities.
While in conversation with local publications, Ashraf revealed that she is honored to receive the prestigious award for her hard work over the years. “I see this honorable recognition as a testament of the values I stand for and I hope to encourage others to carry forward this legacy. I have a lot of projects in mind, and I am looking forward to being able to deliver them.”
“The organization (FRMC) responds to the needs of people in situations of exclusion and in difficulty in the neighborhood, breaks the isolation by developing social ties, establishes solidarity, improves good neighborly relations, and restores people’s confidence. We aim to increase civic involvement and create social ties.”

The 16th convocation at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) took place on the 14th of December, with President Arif Alvi in attendance as chief guest. The convocation is held to award university students who graduated in 2019 and 2020. 1,309 MS degrees, 45 MPhil, and 96 PhDs were awarded to students on the first day of the convocation. President Arif Alvi awarded gold medals to top position holders. Moreover, eight other students were awarded special gold medals.
